Father Albert Joseph Mary Shamon was a dynamic pastor, columnist, author, teacher, and radio broadcaster. Born in 1915, he was ordained by the Diocese of Rochester, New York in 1940 and began his ministry as Assistant Pastor at St. Thomas in Rochester.
Subsequently, Father Shamon had held a variety of interesting positions. He taught at Aquinas Institute, St. Andrew's Seminary, McAuley College, St. Bernard's Seminary, and was pastor at St. Patrick's in Victor, New York. From 1967 to 1973 he served as Vicar of Education for Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen and Bishop Hogan. From there he was assigned as Pastor of St. Mary's in Waterloo, New York. Father Shamon celebrated his 50th anniversary to the priesthood by concelebrating Mass with His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, in his private chapel in Rome.
Father Shamon was Administrator of St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Fleming, New York. In 1993 Father Shamon founded a Christian high school in Auburn, New York, called Tyburn Academy of Mary Immaculate where he taught and served as Spiritual Director until November of 2003.
